India Climbs to 77th Spot on Henley Passport Index 2025, Visa-Free Access to 59 Countries

India has improved its global passport standing, securing the 77th position in the 2025 Henley Passport Index, up from 80th place last year. This marks the second consecutive year of improvement for the Indian passport, which now provides visa-free access to 59 countries.

India shares the 77th rank with Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, and Senegal, all offering similar travel freedom to their citizens. The ranking is based on the number of destinations passport holders can access without obtaining a prior visa, and is compiled using data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), enhanced by Henley & Partners’ research.
