Delhi-NCR Feels Earthquake Tremors for Second Consecutive Day; Epicentre Again in Haryana’s Jhajjar
Residents across Delhi-NCR experienced mild earthquake tremors on Friday evening, July 11, marking the second consecutive day of seismic activity in the region. According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the tremor originated in Haryana’s Jhajjar district — the same area as Thursday’s quake.
The earthquake, measuring Magnitude 3.7, struck at 7:49 PM IST at a depth of 10 kilometers. “EQ of M: 3.7, On: 11/07/2025 19:49:43 IST, Lat: 28.68 N, Long: 76.72 E, Location: Jhajjar, Haryana,” the NCS confirmed in a post on X.
Residents in Delhi, Gurugram, and nearby areas reported feeling the tremors and took to social media to share their experiences.
This follows a Magnitude 4.4 earthquake that struck the same region on Thursday morning at 9:04 AM, with the epicentre located 3 kilometers northeast of Jhajjar and about 51 kilometers west of Delhi. That quake was also recorded at a depth of 10 kilometers and was felt widely across Rohtak, Gurugram, Panipat, Hisar, and parts of western Uttar Pradesh, including Ghaziabad, Noida, and Meerut.
Earlier this year, on February 17, an earthquake measuring Magnitude 4.0 struck 9 kilometers east of New Delhi at 5:36 AM, causing strong tremors that startled residents and sent many rushing out of their homes. That quake occurred at a depth of 5 kilometers.
Delhi lies in Seismic Zone IV, classified as a “High Damage Risk Zone,” indicating the city’s vulnerability to earthquakes of moderate to high intensity. The repeated tremors serve as a reminder of the region’s seismic sensitivity and the importance of preparedness.
