Airtel, Maruti, NTPC drag Sensex 250 pts; Nifty below 25,600; PSB index up 2%
Sensex and Nifty50 were trading lower on Monday as investors tracked global cues for market movement amid no domestic triggers.
BSE Sensex was at 83,810, down 250 points or 0.30 per cent, while the Nifty was at 25,572.85, lower by 64 points or 0.25 per cent. Fall in share prices of M&M, Hero MotoCorp, SBI Life, Tata Consumer Products, Kotak Bank, HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel, Apollo Hospitals, HDFC Life, and Bajaj Auto weighed on the benchmarks.

In the broader market, the Nifty MidCap and the Nifty SmallCap indices were outperforming. The former was up 0.45 per cent and the latter was higher by 0.55 per cent. India VIX was up 2.38 per cent.
Among sectors, the Nifty PSU Bank index was the top gainer (up 2.49 per cent), while the Nifty Realty index was the top loser (down 0.54 per cent).
