The UK and Ireland continue to solidify their status as major global production hubs in 2025, with a slate of high-end films and television series currently being shot across iconic cities and rural landscapes. From major franchises like Spider-Man to auteur-driven dramas and big-budget series, here are the latest updates on productions filming in the region this year.
1. Spider‑Man 4 – Glasgow
Tom Holland returns as Peter Parker in Spider-Man 4, currently filming under the working title Blue Oasis in Glasgow. Key city center locations like Bothwell Street, St Vincent Street, and Oak Street are scheduled for road closures through mid-August to accommodate vehicle stunt sequences. The film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, with Sadie Sink reportedly joining the cast. Additionally, another major J.J. Abrams production starring Jenna Ortega, Glen Powell, and Emma Mackey is also scheduled to film in Glasgow this year.
2. Untitled Ric Roman Waugh Action Thriller
This film stars Jason Statham and has been shooting across the UK and in Enniskerry, Ireland. Directed by Ric Roman Waugh, the cast includes Bill Nighy, Naomi Ackie, Daniel Mays, and Bodhi Rae Breathnach. The thriller combines high-intensity action with international espionage themes.
3. Goodbye June – Kate Winslet’s Directorial Debut
Oscar-winning actor Kate Winslet is making her directorial debut with Goodbye June, a film that began principal photography in March 2025. The film features a stellar ensemble cast including Toni Collette, Johnny Flynn, Andrea Riseborough, Timothy Spall, and Helen Mirren, and is being shot at various locations across the UK.
4. Hamnet – Directed by Chloé Zhao
Academy Award-winner Chloé Zhao is helming this Shakespeare-inspired drama based on Maggie O’Farrell’s novel Hamnet. The cast includes Jessie Buckley, Paul Mescal, Emily Watson, and Joe Alwyn. Filming is currently underway in the UK, marking a major co-production between British and American studios.
5. Bugonia – Yorgos Lanthimos’ Sci-Fi Comedy
Bugonia, directed by Yorgos Lanthimos and starring Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons, began filming in High Wycombe, England in mid-2024. The production has since moved to locations in Ireland in June 2025, with acclaimed cinematographer Robbie Ryan on board.
