11 Dead, Including 3 Children, as Vehicle Plunges into Canal in UP’s Gonda; CM Announces ₹5 Lakh Aid
A tragic accident in Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda district claimed the lives of 11 people, including three children, after a four-wheeler lost control and fell into the Saryu Canal, police said on Sunday.
The vehicle, which was carrying 15 passengers, was en route to the Pirthvinath Temple when it veered off the Seehgaon-Kharagoopur road near Moorganj police station.
Local residents rushed to the scene and alerted authorities. All bodies were later recovered from the canal, and the deceased have been identified.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed condolences to the grieving families and announced ₹5 lakh ex gratia for the next of kin of each deceased. He also instructed officials to ensure immediate medical treatment for the four injured victims.
Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.
