Twisha Sharma Death Probe Deepens as Police Examine Travel Plans, Supreme Court Set to Hear Case
New details have emerged in the investigation into the death of actor-model Twisha Sharma, with authorities now examining why she allegedly took the extreme step despite having plans to travel days later.
Twisha, a resident of Noida who married Bhopal-based lawyer Samarth Singh in December 2025, was found dead on May 12, only months after her wedding. Her death has triggered allegations of dowry harassment, mental abuse and physical torture by her family, accusations strongly denied by her in-laws.
Investigators have now learned that Twisha had planned to travel to Ajmer on May 15 to meet her brother, Harshit Sharma, who is posted there.
“She was scheduled to travel to Ajmer on May 15… We are examining why she took such an extreme step despite having travel plans,” an official involved in the investigation said.
The case has also drawn attention following the circulation of an alleged audio conversation between Harshit Sharma and Twisha’s mother-in-law, Giribala Singh. Twisha’s relatives claimed the conversation suggested that Singh had questioned Twisha’s character, an allegation that has added to tensions between the two families.
Meanwhile, Samarth Singh, who had reportedly been missing for around 10 days after the incident, surrendered to police on Friday. He was later produced before a judicial magistrate and remanded to seven days of police custody for further questioning.
Bhopal Police also said they had issued three notices to Giribala Singh, though the retired judge denied receiving them and stated that she was willing to cooperate fully with investigators if contacted.
The case has now reached the Supreme Court of India, which is scheduled to hear the matter on Monday. The petition has been registered under the title “In Re: Alleged institutional bias and procedural discrepancies in the unnatural death of a young girl at her matrimonial home.”
The hearing will be conducted by a bench headed by Surya Kant and comprising Justices Joymalya Bagchi and Vipul M Pancholi.
Investigators continue to examine evidence and statements as questions surrounding the circumstances of Twisha Sharma’s death remain unresolved.
